How we arrive at our prices

Transparency only works if you know where the numbers come from. This is exactly how we collect our prices, keep them current and label them honestly.

About us

Dierentarieven is an independent price-comparison platform for veterinary care in the Netherlands. We are not affiliated with any chain, insurer or clinic and earn nothing from listing or ranking. Our goal is simple: to help pet owners make a fair, informed choice by making prices transparent and comparable, with clear sourcing for every amount.

1 · Collected at the source
Prices were requested from hundreds of vets (2020–2023) and supplemented with public price lists. We also pull current prices straight from clinic websites (2026); those fresh prices take precedence.
2 · Indexed to today
Because prices can be a few years old, we index them with CBS inflation figures to 2026. We label such amounts as “estimated”.
3 · Filled in where possible
Chains often share one price (carried over and labelled “chain”); we take ratings from Google where available; we determine locations via PDOK.
4 · Honest about uncertainty
For every price we show the source (clinic · web · estimated · chain) and the year. Prices are indicative. Always ask the clinic for a definitive price.

Why indicative?

The final bill depends on factors we cannot know in advance: your animal’s weight, complications, or whether a procedure takes more time. Our figures give you a reliable range to compare clinics with, not a quote. Found a more current price? Then we show it with source and year.
