What does “extended” cover for your dog?
Based on the average vet prices in our database. A covered treatment is reimbursed by the insurer (minus excess and any co-payment); an uncovered one you pay yourself.

How does it work?
Basic vs. extended
A basic cover reimburses necessary medical care: consultation, examination, surgery with anaesthesia, medication and euthanasia. With extended/complete you also get dental, vaccinations, neutering/spaying and prevention, among others.
Excess & co-payment
The excess is usually between €50 and €200 per year. There is often also a co-payment of 10–50% per treatment. Higher excess = lower premium.
Cover & maximum
Insurers usually reimburse 75–100% of the medical costs, up to an annual maximum (often €2,500–€12,500, sometimes unlimited). Watch the maximum for expensive procedures.
Waiting period & age
There is usually a waiting period of 30 days (accidents often covered immediately). The maximum sign-up age ends around 6–7 years with many insurers, so sign up in time.
